my pictures for fair.

I do have one more picture, but the mother of the little girl who is in the picture has kindly asked me not to post it on the internet.

What do you guys think? Fair starts on the 6th! Wish me luck!

I will also be showing rabbits, competing in iron chef with my best friend, and... I think that's it...

Last year I had six competitions, nine exhibit entries, and thirteen rabbits.

Little much. Kinda got overwhelmed.

This year is going to be way less stressful. Fair is so fun! Don't forget to drop down by the small animal barn to see me!!! :)

wilbur.

Wilbur has gotten so big!!! Also, he's turned a lighter color. I've started working with him for 4H - right now I'm trying to make him sit still and pose correctly on the table (he does a way better job than Jay Jay, who despises show). He is not easily distracted (yay!), and he was moved outside to my "rabbit condo" last week.

fair 2011.

Just finished up what my mom calls the worst week of the year today. I won Champion Grand Champion in photography, got a red in sewing, all blues in rabbit conformation, and made it to the champion round for rabbit showmanship. I worked in the 4-H Kitchen, sold Beef Bucks, and entered in table setting, iron chef, public speaking, and impromptu speech. Right now I'm packing for Camp Harlow - I'm leaving at 2:00!!!

my babies' first day outside.

Today the baby bunnies hopped around outside for the first time. They had a blast eating their first blades of grass!!! :)

Dakota does not at all try to protect her babies.....hmm.....

Here's a few of the bunnies' names: Rolly, Cheerio, Riley, Wilbur, Midnight.

Don't forget... $20 each at the fair: the second week of August!!!

baby wilbur.

Wilbur is the runt of Dakota's litter. He was very small and skinny and wasn't getting fed - so I got to feed him!

It was really fun. I only got to for two or three days, though. Once he got bigger he got fed by his mommy :)

I fed him goat's milk and used a "dropper-needle-thingy" that I had from when I had to give Simba medicine.

dakota is a mommy.

Dakota, my only female (and vicious!!!) rabbit, had babies on June 24th!!! The babies are really cute. :) They're little puff balls...I love 'em...

There are seven of them and six will be available for purchase at the fair this August for $20 each. Faith gets to keep one.

Aren't they CUTE?! :) :) :) :) :)

animal update.

Jay Jay

Pepper

Hey everyone! Pics of my rabbits!

Here are my sweet bunnies - Dakota (girl), Pepper (boy), and Jay Jay (boy). Pepper and Jay Jay both have won red ribbons at the fair this past year (2010). I bought Pepper at the fair in 2009. Dakota was purchased from the same breeders I bought Pepper from.

Dakota's first litter of babies all died. There were nine. She is again (hopefully) pregnant and due on June 26th.

I also have a male hamster, who keeps me up ALL NIGHT LONG. His name is Thunder, and when he wants more food at 3:00 a.m., he lets me know. Hamsters are nocturnal. Yay. I so happy (not). PLUS Thunder only likes the big nuts - not the little ones. So he only eats half of what I feed him.

But I can't part with him :)

Next are my fishies. Sunshine, Tigress, and Pancake. I won Sunshine at VBS last year. Tigress and Pancake were obtained in a huge "jar" of fish bought from a girl going into college. The fish were divided among Faith, Jarrett, and me.

young love.

Dakota and Pepper got married! My friend and I had a little huge ceremony. It was so much fun! JayJay was the minister and Thunder was the flower girl! We used Build-a-Bear clothes for outfits.

I also bred Dakota and Pepper today. Dakota is expecting kits on the 7th of April. Faith is going to get the pick of the litter. She's getting a girl and name it Anna.

These were the vows:

Do you, Dakota/Pepper, take this male/female as your husband/wife for richer or for poorer, for happier or for hoppier, for Ducks and for Beavers as long as you live?

simba.

Simba died last Thursday, on January 6th, 2011. He is now buried in our backyard.

He was my favorite rabbit. It was really hard when I went out to feed him and saw him dead.
I made a scrapbook for him and am working on a memorial stepping stone (as my mother calls it) for him; I'm also going to change my school binder so that there are pictures of him on it. There are no picture frames in my room that do not hold a picture of Simba. I really miss him.

When I was seven, I had a rabbit named Ariel. One day it got too hot and she died. Since then, I have forgotten all about her.
But I do not want to forget Simba. He was the best rabbit in the whole wide world. He was gentle, calm, soft, and he was mine.

annes baby bunnies.

My friend bred her rabbit and she had babies! It was really exciting. She kept one (or, her sister kept one).

hike.

Okay, for those who do not know my rabbits, I am talking about my almost two-year-old rabbit, who is Simba.

I TOOK SIMBA ON A HIKE!

There, I said it.

He was super cute! My new profile picture is a picture of him I took on the hike. He doesn't have his harness on in the picture, but for most of the hike he did. The whole time we were acually walking, he was frozen. But when we got to the waterfall, he was everywhere. I'm glad I had a leash!

One time he tried to jump into the river! Not a smart idea, even for my eldest rabbit.

I would upload the picture I took, but I'm saving it as my profile picture, anyway.

After about half an hour at the waterfall, me and Simba sat on a bench for a snack. I was later told we looked funny eating together.

The next time we go on a hike, I'm bringing Jay Jay! (My Holland Lop)
